In the past week, the laughter of children has filled the halls of St. James. First, there was Vacation Bible School. Then, then was a Girl Scout Gold Award Ceremony. Thanks to Sue Foster and her leadership team for a fantastic VBS, where children experienced God’s love through the energy, intelligence, imagination and love of the adults in the congregation!
During Saturday’s Gold Award Ceremony at which St. James’ Charlotte Shunk received this organization’s highest honor, I gave thanks for the extent to which scouting instills an appreciation for God’s creation and for St. James’ commitment to scouting.
Among the highlights of the services that I have led at St. James are the conversations with children that are a regular feature of our common worship as people of faith. I pray that children and their families will always feel at home at St. James. I already do, and I look forward to more love and laughter in the years ahead!
